A lovely bottle in an unusual oval shape, of Uranium glass. The bottle is European, probably French. The top is of silver, but no mark.
The bottle has a diameter of 3.5″ and stands 2.5″ high.
The bottle’s lovely color is due to Uranium. Uranium glass has uranium, usually in oxide diuranate form, added to a glass mix before melting for colouration. For hundreds of years, glass-makers used small amounts of uranium to create yellow or green glass. Under an ultraviolet (UV) or “black” light, the uranium causes the glass to glow bright green.
The decorative silver top is in the form of a bunch of flowers.
