Block Front Chest of Drawers in Burr Oak
Out of stock
Historically a block-front case of furniture has a symmetrical, undulating facade made up of three vertical blocks, two of them bowed or convex and one curved in or concave. Ideally the front is carved from a solid piece of wood. A block-front is a costly addition to a piece of furniture and generally served as status symbols for wealthy owners.
Our block front chest shown here is in burr oak. The facade is hand cut. Note the shape of the top and base mimics the shape of the drawer fronts.
Note also the image of a block-front with a secretaire inset.
