Large Block Front Chest of Drawers

Historically a block-front case of furniture has a symmetrical, undulating facade made up of three vertical blocks, two of them bowed or convex and one curved in or concave. Ideally the front is carved from a solid piece of wood. A block-front is a costly addition to a piece of furniture and generally served as status symbols for wealthy owners.
This large 3-drawer block front chest, inspired by a French antique, is shown in sycamore. The facade is hand cut, hand-crafted in our East Anglia workshop. Note also the hand-crafted hardware.
